A training workshop aimed at educating people about the impact of trauma and how to manage it
Many people have experienced a traumatic event during their lifetime. This can take the form of a single event, such as a car accident, but also be linked to more complex events, such as suffering abuse during childhood.
In recent years we have come to acknowledge the negative impact past events can have on a person’s current functioning. Symptoms commonly associated with trauma include emotional problems, difficulty sleeping, increased anxiety and changes to their belief systems. Adopting a trauma-informed approach can help an individual overcome some of these difficulties.
The Understanding Trauma workshop has been developed from our experience of assessing and treating over 500 clients who have experienced trauma. The workshop provides knowledge about the physical and psychological impact that trauma can have. It also teaches practical guidelines and skills to manage common symptoms of trauma.
This workshop has been delivered in a range of health, social and criminal justice settings and can be tailored to meet the needs of the audience.
